ACG-What’s your definition of Style?
JV-Style is the characteristics of a person. It is not the person’s clothes, rather the person’s personality that is integrated into clothes. For example, take the actor Joseph Gordan Levitt: He wears a normal slim fitting suit, just like everyone right? However, he adds style with his signature red button on his lapel hole. Now as a definition all I can say is style is the basic defining of a person’s personality through items or physical movement and so forth.
ACG-What inspired your Style?
JV-Many different people and things throughout my life have inspired my style. I enjoy dressing up on certain themes and imitating characters. I can break this down into seasons: Spring: Nautical/JFK; summer: Connery/Nick Wooster/Gatsby; fall: Mad Men/George Peppard/Ivy League/Prep; winter: Victorian Aged Gentlemen/James Bond/One Direction/English Gentlemen. I like to dress up like a performer, yet I never took Drama.
ACG-The do’s and don’t’s of Style/Fashion?
JV-Do: Be yourself, be courageous and do something extravagant. Pick an outfit that defines you. Watch the season and know your color coordination. Don’t: Wear crocks, break the sizing and tying rules with clothing (tie length, suit size). No Chelsea boots. You’re not a Beatle and no New Balance since you’re not jogging.
ACG-How does your style of dress reflect who you are to people?
JV-I do not know what people are thinking, but I know they see me. I tend to dress very different in my community and I believe in adding a little zest to our gene pool here.
ACG-What’s one thing you would take out of Fashion World and one thing you would add?
Jv-I would take out Crocs or Uggs. One thing I would add, actually promote would be originality and creativity in outfits.
ACG-Tips for up and coming Fashion/Style bloggers?
JV-A tip for the fresh into fashion bloggers: Blog the things you like. However, make your blog personal. Every other blog on the internet reblogs bigger name people. Be the bigger person and shoot for that “big name”.
ACG-What’s going to be big this spring/summer season?
JV-Well for spring most definitely navy and blue will be back, hints of grey, and khaki. Watch out for braces or suspenders. Not the ones that clip on and off but the original button braces. I already see a lot of customers at Nordstrom wanting to add the buttons. Summer: Vacation time go for that getaway look without looking like you’re going to Hawaii. Bermuda shorts and fitted short sleeved shirts will be the base look. Deck shoes are always in. Toms (I do not like) will be in. To sum up Spring/Summer 2012 the look this year will be getaway. Like a racer or a vacationer in Monte Carlo.
ACG-What’s your dream job?
JV-My dream job is to become a Director. I love to create, especially movies. I always think up stories. I am a very visual person as well.
ACG-All time favorite item clothing or shoe?
JV-Favorite Item: Brown Briefcase; Favorite Clothing: Slim tailored Navy Suit; Favorite shoe: Allen Edmund Brown wingtip Oxfords
ACG-Who’s your style icon and why?
JV-My icon style and possibly lifestyle icon is James Bond. For the longest time I thought to myself, James Bond is really awesome I want to be just like him. That’s how I got into fashion, as well as “elegant high class lifestyle”.
